Shipping lines, weight rules and insurance
Shipping is the second payment, and the seller you chose shows up here in a quiet way: the weight of what they packed. A shop that ships a light tee in a heavy branded box has added freight you will pay in a month. Most of shipping, though, is about reading one tool well: the official shipping fee estimator.
Enter a destination and a weight and it returns every available line, with price and delivery window in days. Line names carry real information: a battery note, a perfume ban, a duty-free tag, an actual-weight tag. Prices are set by the logistics providers and move with the market, which the estimator states itself, so a quote is a snapshot.
Reading the results
Shipping line comparison, one example
Our own run of the estimator on 2026-10-10, for a one-kilogram parcel of ordinary goods, returned thirteen lines to the US, sixteen to the UK, eighteen to Germany, seventeen to France and sixteen to Poland. To the US, the cheapest line on that day was a cosmetics air express line at thirty-eight dollars and seven cents with an eleven to seventeen day window; the seven to thirteen day lines started at thirty-nine dollars and twenty-eight cents. The UK cheapest was a dedicated line at fifteen dollars seventy-six, seven to nineteen days.
Those numbers are there to show the shape, not to quote: they are a dated example, and they will be wrong by the time you read this. The useful lesson is the spread: the same kilogram can cost a third more on a faster line, and the cheapest line is not always the slowest.
Weight
Volumetric weight and line floors
Many lines charge the larger of actual and volumetric weight; actual-weight lines and weight floors follow their own stated rules. The help centre gives the formula as length times width times height in centimetres divided by five thousand, with some carriers using six, seven or eight thousand; several UK lines in our capture used eight thousand. A bulky puffer in a big box can bill as twice its scale weight, which is why packing options matter.
Some lines also refuse parcels that are too light. On 2026-10-10, two fast US lines were greyed out with the note that the parcel should not weigh less than two thousand grams; other lines required at least 2,501 or 5,001 grams. A one-item order cannot use those lines however attractive they look. Consolidating several vetted shops' goods into one parcel is how buyers reach them.
At the other end, parcels over ten kilograms are more likely to be treated as commercial, as are parcels holding many identical items, according to the help centre. That is a seller-choice point too: twenty of one piece from one wholesale shop reads differently at customs than a mixed haul.
Customs
Customs, duties and the EU notice
The operator’s June 23, 2026 notice describes an EU low-value parcel duty change effective July 1. Kakobuy's announcement of 2026-06-23 says it will charge only three euros per parcel regardless of the number of categories, included in the shipping cost at submission, and may withdraw the offer with notice. A follow-up dated 2026-07-01 says duty-free EU lines continue and include applicable taxes. These are dated operator terms; confirm current line eligibility, checkout charges and any recipient documentation duties.
For US buyers, an announcement dated 2025-04-17 introduced tax-free routes that cost roughly five to ten dollars more per package than ordinary USPS lines. The help centre also keeps a country threshold table, but the site itself labels that table as collected from internet data for reference only, and several of its values predate current law. Use it as history, not as a rule.
The dated help article describes agent declarations on duty-free-labelled routes; confirm the selected route’s terms and your responsibilities before shipping. generic descriptions such as gift, sample or goods are not accepted. False declarations, per the help centre, can mean returned parcels and fines.
If it goes wrong
Parcel insurance and its limits
Insurance is the last place seller choice shows up. A seller who packs fragile goods well makes a damage claim less likely; a seller who ships a heavy branded box makes the insured freight larger. Compare the premium, covered events, exclusions and potential loss before deciding whether to buy cover.
You add Kako Insurance on the parcel submission screen, not afterwards. Per the official terms, it has three parts: eligible delay cover is described as twenty percent of freight after a thirty- or forty-day threshold depending on the line; exclusions, evidence and the actual claim criteria apply; customs-hold cover and loss or damage cover pay according to each line's criteria. The cap is the actual shipping fee plus the actual value of the goods, up to the insured amount, with any delay compensation already paid deducted. Coverage per line shows as a green icon in the estimator.
Without insurance, the help centre is clear that the agent is not responsible for loss or damage caused by third-party logistics providers, and lists exclusions including customs confiscation, wrong addresses and fragile items. The choice is real; make it at submission rather than wishing for it later.
Put it into practice
Re-run the quote at parcel submission
Use the packed dimensions and weight, destination and actual goods type. Read each eligible line’s restrictions, tax handling and delivery estimate. A historical route table illustrates comparison; it cannot confirm a current price.
